Science fiction movies and books have always held a special place in my heart. I've loved reading about alien invasions, space ships and the mysteries of space since I was a kid. I can't wait to share a new short story anthology with you all, echoing some of the sci-fi themes I enjoy! An Orb Over The Strawberry Moon will soon grace the digital shelves of Amazon Kindle and I promise it will take you on a journey to the stars, exploring topics of family, the uncertain future of technology, an alien threat, time travel and more.

From a killer asteroid threatening Earth to a Russian girl with telekinetic powers to a farming community battling robotic dogs, each tale will linger with you, touching on familiar issues facing humankind.

A Killer Asteroid

The first story in the anthology, Asteroid Bennu 101955, takes place on a dying earth with a killer asteroid threatening to destroy what's left of it. Noah, a talented engineer, crafts a rocketship to save his family from certain doom. The Council threatens Noah with violence if he proceeds to evacuate to Mars against their orders. It's a race against time as the countdown echoes in their desert community. Will Noah's family manage to escape earth before the deadly asteroid hits?

"The countdown cut to a burst of static from the transistor radio. The hiss jolted Noah and he looked up from welding an exterior patch of the Ark. His hand slipped and blood oozed from his finger onto his wrist. Dammit. Not now. Voice of Free Mars resumed blasting the emergency countdown – Asteroid Bennu 101955 was about to hit the Great Lakes with a 1.15 gigaton impact. His heart skipped a beat and pumped hard in his ears. He needed to finish getting the rocketship ready and launch his family to the red planet before the devastating strike." -- Asteroid Bennu 101955

The Telekinetic Prodigy

Nina's Gift is the second story in the anthology. What would life be like if you could move objects with your mind? Nina, a 19-year-old student from the khrushchevka buildings of Moscow, lives in her cramped apartment with her little sister and alcoholic father.

"Nina exhaled and steadied herself. She lifted her hands over it, and then gently guided it with a wave of energy that rippled through her palms. The orange cup slowly skidded across the table all by itself and then stopped. The water sloshed, and then the cup moved again, sliding right to the edge.

Masha clapped. 'Bravo! I knew you could do it, my Nina!' She ran up to her sister and grabbed her neck." -- Nina's Gift

A Farmer's Family vs. Robotic Dogs

What would you do if your farm was overrun by Robodogs.? Sneaky robotic dogs sent to spy on you and possibly kill you? Gerald must travel a desolate country road in search of his stepson, Kyle, who's job it is to gather antibiotics for his very sick little sister, and race against the clock before Stargate System's curfew. Can Gerald and Kyle get back home in time?

"Gerald cranked the ignition and Kyle pointed to the rear view mirror. A pack of Robodogs were turning the corner behind them on the road like a flock of mechanical sheep. He saw them coming up closer and pressed down on the gas, speeding to Country Line fourteen towards home." -- Robodogs

A Thrilling Collection of Stories

This collection of eleven sci-fi stories is an exciting addition to your reading list. Some of the stories have been previously published on my Substack account. One reader remarked after reading Nina's Gift, "Very cool story, well written! Can't wait to see more!"

Another Substack reader after checking out Blue Kachina: "Oh please let this be part one and let there be other parts to come. I'm hooked and want to know what happens when the red star comes!"
